BIOGAS PRODUCTION

BIOGAS PRODUCTION

Biogas Technology is a technique of generating the biogas such as Methane, ethane etc. From Biomass through Anaerobic digestion process. In this technology human and animals excretas and agro waste is used as a biomass and digested into the pits or containers to obtain combustible gases of ethen and methane groups. These gases are similar are to natural gas and can be used as sources of energy.

Anaerobic Digestion :

Anaerobic Digestion is very important process in biogas Technology and it takes place due to micro organisms or bacteria. There are two class of bacteria or micro organisms. One which are exiting in the presence of oxygen are called aerobes while another which can exit in absence of oxygen are called Anaerobes.

Anaerobe bacteria have capacity to disintegrate organics matter at 35 to 45°c  temperature and to produce Methane gas which is known as Biogas. The process of Anaerobic digestion take place in an enclosed chamber or a digester.

The process of Anaerobic digestion is divided into three stages :-

1) Hydrolysis

2) Acid formation

3) Methane gas formation

Property of Biogas :-

----- It is transparent, colorless , restless gas. It doesn't give any smell when it burn.

----- It does not produces poisonous gas, spot and Ash.

----- It is gives heat and light

----- It does not produces any pollution

----- Its Octane number is 110.

----- It require 9.5 m^3 air/m^3 gas.
