Waste Management And Recycling

Waste Management and Recycling

Principle of waste recycling :

Waste recycling is defined as processing the potentially useful waste materials to Produce new and useful products. Waste recycling reduces the consumption Fresh raw materials, reduction in energy usage, and reduction pollution. Waste recycling of a material would Produce a fresh supply of the same material, for example used office paper to more office paper, or used plastics Will be converted again into plastics. Of course quality of recycled product will be lower than the fresh product.

For Examples :

1).  To obtain methane gas from waste products of pulp and paper Mills.

2).  To obtain ethanol from molasses - waste product of sugar Mills.

3).  To obtain fuel gas from organic waste products.

4).  To make card boards from waste papers.

Waste recycling Methods :

There are three methods of waste recycling.

Waste recycling management

Waste recycling Management

A) Direct waste recycling
B) Indirect waste recycling
C) waste heat recovery

A) Direct waste recycling :

In direct waste recycling Methods the waste materials such as iron, aluminum, brass, copper, plastic can be melted down and again some materials are retrieved and used in production processes.
There recycling Furnaces where the direct waste recycling process is carried out.

B) Indirect waste recycling :

In indirect waste recycling Methods the potentially use full waste materials is repossessed in such as to give new materials which can used for some different purposes.
As for example, Small pieces of woods are reprocessed to make particle boards. Waste paper is reprocessed to make card board. Fly ash can be used for making fly ash bricks.

C) Waste heat recovery :

The waste materials which cannot be converted in any useful purposes can be burn in incinerators and heat can be recovered. This recovered heat can be used as heat Energy.

Advantage of waste recycling

Waste recycling has following recycling :

(1) Waste recycling process genenrate energy which can be used for heating and other purposes.

(2) Waste recycling solves the problem of waste disposal.

(3) Waste recycling increases the utilization of raw materials.

(4) Waste can be directly burnt to give heat energy.

(5) Waste recycling reduces pollution.

(6) Toys and other useful plastic items can be made From waste plastic.

(7) Waste recycling helps economy of Nation.
