Large Capacity wind turbines have capacity more than 500KW. 
They have design, construction and operation quite different from smaller capacity wind turbines. 
They are following important components of large size horizontal Axis wind turbines :

(5) Low speed shaft
(6) Gear box
(7) Generator
(8) Controller

Control system of large size wind turbines :

The large size wind turbines have very complex control system. The major control systems are as under : 

(1) Pitch Control system

(2) Yaw control system

(3) Aerodynamic braking system

(4) Central controller with microprocessor

Control system of small size wind turbines : 

The control system of small size wind turbines is simple. They are provided with mechanical braking system. The pitch control and yaw controls are not provided. But generator operates on cut-in and cut-out speed control.

Application of wind mill and wind power :

1) For water pumping and smaller irrigation scheme.

2) For captive Electrical Power generations.

3) For Running flour Mills.

4) They are used as stand by energy sources.

5) To run the farms machineries and equipments. 

6) They used in fishing and Salt Industries.

7) They are used in rural foresty projects.
